Gotham Season 3 Episode 11 – Beware the Green-Eyed Monster Review

gotham season 3 episode 11

“Now, before I kill you, she has to hate you. And, she will.” – Mario

It’s the wedding episode with a little bit of the Court of Owls story arc in the mix. I promised myself I wouldn’t cry and I won’t. Warning, there will be slight spoilers ahead.

After finding out that Mario is infected with Alice’s blood last episode, I was wondering how they would play it out within this episode. Frankly I was disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, the premise was right: wedding date, husband-to-be goes crazy due to the blood. But we didn’t get that like we did with Barnes. Mario starts hearing the voices saying that Lee still loves Jim and vice versa. What is brought up within this episode is that Alice’s blood is being tested on and knowing that Jim may find out that he is infected with the blood, he has to find a way to cheat the test.

The title of this episode is “Beware of the Green-Eyed Monster” for a reason: the green-eyed monster is jealousy. This is what is brought forward by the blood. Towards the end of the episode, it’s proven how the blood test can be cheated to shown that one is not infected. Knowing that Lee is in danger, Jim visits Don Falcon. Being told of everything, it comes to mind that this may be the reason Mario was the target last episode. Carmine did tell Jim that he doesn’t trust him to bring Mario in because he would kill Mario on sight.

While everything is going on, we do have the Court of Owls arc still running in the Bruce story line. While members of the Whisper’s gang have been killed, Bruce is now hesitant on following through the mission. Knowing that he may not have another opportunity, Bruce, along with Alfred and Selina, decides to break into one of the safe houses. It seems a tad bit easy for them to break in. With Talon close by, it becomes Talon vs Alfred round two, with the help of Bruce and Selina this time.

So this was the midseason finale for Gotham and like I mentioned in the beginning, I was disappointed. This time the show couldn’t handle the multiple stories at the same time like they usually do. If they could have focused on the wedding aspect of the episode and leave the Court of Owls for another day then the full potential of the episode would have been realized. But now, on January 16th, we get the second half of the season. The very first episode back is the return of Jerome. I don’t know about you, but I am excited for Jerome to be back from the dead and to cause more mayhem!

Residential DC guy and horror movie junkie who loves to drink and game. Not much to say as I am the way I am. Will provide my opinion either on an article or when streaming with the DCN crew. I do read and follow Marvel but I follow DC more. Will do articles on the tv shows, movies and games for both Marvel and DC. Might even do some comics of the week also, but we shall see what happens. Welcome to Digital Crack Network, now cue the music!
