Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite Story Trailer 1 Released

marvel vs capcom: infinite

A new universe shall be forged…

I’m still trying to catch up after my right knee decided to do its best impression of a balloon. This one is late as a result.

Yesterday, Capcom released the first story trailer for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. Along with fleshing out more of the impetus for the crossover, new characters are revealed. The biggest reveal, of course, is the reveal of the ultimate boss: Ultron Sigma.

That is correct. The end boss of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is a merged entity comprised of Ultron – mega-baddie android of the Marvel universe – and Sigma – the ultimate boss of the Mega Man X series in the Capcom universe. Both beings decide to merge and obliterate all life in both universes. It falls upon the representatives of both universes to team up and stop Ultron Sigma.

Those representatives have bolstered their numbers since Capcom’s last update. The previously verified list of playable characters was small. Capcom showed Mega Max X, Morrigan and Ryu, while Marvel tagged Iron Man, Captain Marvel, and Captain America for service. The latest trailer adds Hulk, Hawkeye, Thor, and Rocket Raccoon to Team Red. Team Blue gains the abilities of Hiryu from Strider, Chris Redfield, and Chun-Li.

Beyond the new characters, the only new information shared by the trailer concerns the pre-order bonuses and the Collector’s Edition. The former, priced at $89.99 promises six DLC characters, including vanilla Sigma, as well as six new costumes, including Evil Ryu. The latter, which reaches $199.99, includes a ton of goodies. They include a box with all six LED-lit Infinity Stones. It also includes statues for Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Ryu, and Mega Man X. I refuse to pre-order anything, but the sight of the swag in the Collector’s Edition gave me pause.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite will launch on September 19th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
