Polyphone Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi has announced that the beta for the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport has “most likely” been cancelled.
Yamauchi revealed the news while speaking to VideoGamer. “That’s something that I’m very, very sorry about,” he said. “In order to do a beta test we have to make a gold master of the beta test code, and for us it actually takes as much effort as to finish the real master code of the actual game.”
“Considering the release timing that we announced, we decided that we just don’t have enough time to do two gold masters for the game. By omitting that it saves us about three months of time.”
Yamauchi announced a release date of November 15 for Japan, Asia, and North America, with a date of November 18 for the United Kingdom. The dates were announced during an event held in London.
