Pokemon GO player ftb_hodor has achieved a title no one has yet received: Pokemon master! He revealed on Reddit that his North American Pokedex is complete. By complete, he means that he has caught all 142 Pokemon currently available in the States.
To accomplish this, ftb_hodor caught a total of 4,269 Pokemon. He walked over 95 miles (153 km) and hatched 303 eggs during his two-week odyssey. He managed to do this this while working more than 50 hours a week. Living in New York City helped; he took advantage of a hotspot of four PokeStops directly across Central Park.
His final catch was Omanyte, which he evolved into Omastar for the final tally. Still missing are Farfetch’d, Mr. Mime, Kangaskhan, Ditto, Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos, Mew, and Mewtwo. The first three are believed to be region –specific; Farfetch’d is reported to be Asian exclusive, Mr. Mime is abundant in Western Europe, and Kangaskhan is found in Oceania. The last six are extremely rare, with no reports of natural occurrences anywhere.
Still, collecting 142 unique Pokemon in Pokemon GO – while holding down a full-time job WITH OVERTIME – is an impressive feat. Kudos to ftb_hodor; may songs of your achievements ring across Pokemon gyms worldwide!
