Gamers always want to find out the limits of the games they play. Some play huge marathon sessions, trying to get as far as possible. Others try to mine the data from the game’s code. And then there are those who resort to “enhancements.”
Reddit user Problemz decided to go with the latter approach with Pokemon GO. Using bots, he was able to rack up huge amounts of experience points per hour – as many as 280,000 points an hour. In doing so, he stumbled onto the game’s level cap of 40. Players need to gain a total of 20 million experience points to do so.
“I purly [sic] went for XP/h,” Problemz wrote. “Nothing else. I used a total of 131 Eggs ([five] x 25 Pack – and i think [six] from leveling).”
Now that he has, as the song proclaims, the “VERY BEST”, he decided to contact Niantic so they can delete his account. This was done as an experiment; he has no intention of playing any more. Niantic doesn’t allow deletion of accounts in-game, but he was able to file a termination request via the Pokemon GO website. A later screenshot in German confirmed the account’s deletion.
“I don’t play this game — I just wanted to see how far I can push with the given tools,” Problemz wrote. “And I learned so much out of this.”
Some stats from his bot binge: he caught 574 Pokemon total, visited over 7,000 PokeStops, and battled in exactly zero gyms. The bots used were unspecified.
