Microsoft and Remedy have announced that Quantum Break, Remedy’s time-bending action game, will be available through Steam starting on September 14th. Surprisingly, the game will also be available via retail. The physical package is called Quantum Break: Timeless Collector’s Edition.

Microsoft announced via a news release that both the physical and Steam releases will include “all of the latest updates to ensure you get the ideal Quantum Break experience right out of the box.” The retail version will be released by Nordic games. They also worked on the physical copies of Alan Wake, State of Decay, and Ori and the Blind Forest. Both the Steam and physical version will retail for $39.99.

The Timeless Collector’s Edition includes the following content:

  • Premium packaging
  • 5 game discs (one-time Steam key redemption required)
  • Making of Blu-Ray
  • Making of Book
  • 1 Soundtrack CD (Audio-CD)
  • 2 Posters
  • Quickstart Guide

After the whole row concerning Microsoft titles being only on the Xbox and Windows Store, this is a bit of a change. And it seems it won’t stop here, as Xbox head Phil Spencer said more Microsoft games will appear on Steam. More choice is always a plus, so I am in favor of Microsoft’s strategy.

He has been playing video games for longer than he would like to admit, and is passionate about all retro games and systems. He also goes to bars with an NES controller hoping that entering the Konami code will give him thirty chances with the drunk chick at the bar. His interests include vodka, old-school games, women, vodka, and women gamers who drink vodka.
