2014’s Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor was an awesome game. I jumped into it late, but I enjoyed playing it. Of course, I was hoping Warner Bros. would take another stab at the franchise with a sequel.
Over the weekend, a posting on Target’s international site was noted and reported on by NeoGAF member DeathByBacklog. The posting was for Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, the sequel that has been teased but not announced. Today, Warner Bros. made the official announcement and released a formal announcement trailer. Obviously, I am pleased.
The trailer looks to feature the ranger Talion and the wraith Celebrimbor, the protagonist team-up from Shadow of Mordor. They have forged a new Ring of Power, and Talion looks to take down Sauron and his hellish army with it.
The announcement features no gameplay, only cinematics. A blurb at the end of the video promises a gameplay reveal on March 8th. I am looking forward to the reveal.
