Blizzard Reportedly Releasing StarCraft HD Remaster

This indeed is the generation of the HD Remaster. Many publishers seem content with just releasing older games – some from last generation, which I despise – with a new coat of varnish. Some games would benefit from an HD makeover – CRASH BANDICOOT!!! – but do we really need an HD Remaster of Arkham Asylum?

(This is the part where Cousin Jose insists it’s a wonderful idea…)

According to Korean site iNews24, Blizzard may want to throw its hat into the HD ring in a big way. Multiple sources say Blizzard is ready to announce an HD Remaster of StarCraft on September. iNews24 reports, via a tipster named Sang, the following:

Today, multiple sources with knowledge of Blizzard internal plans said that Blizzard will reveal StarCraft HD to the public this September. The StarCraft HD remastered version will retain the original gameplay and is said to have improved graphics resolution and user interface (UI).

According to Sang, September is notable because the StarCraft II World Championship Series in Mexico will finish then. An announcement there would be convenient. Of course, more information would be revealed curing Blizzcon in November.

The reports do not mention anything about Brood WarsStarCraft‘s expansion.

StarCraft is an absolute classic RTS and is heavily popular in Korea. An HD Remaster of the game sounds divine, but Blizzard has not commented on the reports. It is possible that the reports are false. As weary as I am with all the HD Remasters, I hope the reports about StarCraft are true.
