New Patch on the Way Soon

Blizzard is working on a remaster for the original StarCraft and its expansion, Brood War. While they work on giving the classic game the 4K spit-shine, they’re also working on an update to the original game. That update – version 1.18 – will drop sometime in the next week. Along with the update comes another benefit: Blizzard will make the game completely free.

The version 1.18 update will introduce a bunch of bug fixes for the real-time strategy game. It will also introduce key binding and an observer mode. Anti-cheat measures will be added, and compatibility with Windows 7 and up will ensure that the game will perform well newer systems.

Both StarCraft and Brood War are part of StarCraft Anthology a package that retails for $14.95. The title has been pulled from Blizzard’s online store and is not available for purchase. Once the version 1.18 update is released, Blizzard will make StarCraft Anthology available again for free.
