Last month, Amazon listed then delisted Metal Gear Solid Definitive EX on its storefront. Dell currently has a similar listing on its online store for Metal Gear Solid V Definitive Edition, but the entry is suspect – even funny.
The entry shows as being for the PlayStation 4 and has an availability date of October 11th, 2016. You might miss it if you’re searching for it, however, because the listing’s thumbnail is not of the game. It is a shot of…the NES Classic Edition? I can understand a placeholder image being on the listing until more appropriate artwork is available. But a NES Classic Edition?
In fact, the full description belongs to the upcoming NES mini-console:
“From your first Goomba stomp to your thousandth victory in Final Fantasy, the Nintendo Entertainment System may just be the most nostalgic gaming console ever. And now, a new, miniaturized version is here, pre-loaded with 30 of the all-time greatest games, including The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Mega Man 2. Just plug it in…and play.”
Hey, I’m the Retro guy here. I love the NES placeholder info on the listing. I think it’s actually funny. It gives me the urge to play Metal Gear on my NES. Maybe the Definitive Edition is a special NES port of Hideo Kojima’s last Konami masterpiece? I bet it won’t have the DLC, though…
According to the Dell listing, Metal Gear Solid V Definitive Edition will retail for $49.99. We shall see if it’s a legitimate listing.
