Remember when The Fast and the Furious was just about street racing? Yeah, I miss those days.
The latest trailer for the newest entry in the series, The Fate of the Furious, has dropped. So, too, have about 1000 cars. Watch the trailer and you’ll understand what I mean.
This entry is taking the balls-to-the-wall action from the last couple of entries and pushed it to extreme levels. Everything from street racing in Cuba; to driving a car out of a building from an insane height; to a tank AND a submarine chase, this movie is not joking around. I think even Michael Bay got jealous!
A couple of teasers are dangled in front of our eyes here. We’re reaffirmed in our belief that Dom (Vin Diesel) is working with Cipher (Charlize Theron) and betraying his family against his will. And we see more of Cipher’s handiwork with the aforementioned cars dropping. The rest is just over-the-top action, complete with Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) hanging from a car to try and redirect a torpedo (!) shot at them by a submarine (!!!) so it hits an enemy vehicle. Oh, and all this is happening on a sheet of ice that is being destroyed by the pursuing submarine (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
Yup, I just checked my insanity meter. It just keeps repeating “OVER 9000!”
The Fate of the Furious will debut in theaters on April 14th. I suggest that you hold off on the excess caffeine if you plan to go see this.
