A tweet on PlayStation’s Twitter account seems to have accidentally leaked news that Dark Souls III’s first DLC is about to drop.
The tweet mentions Ashes of Ariandel as the title of the DLC. It also mentions a release date of October 25th for the PS4. The tweet has been deleted; the link leads to a Goggle Web cache of the tweet. The link on the tweet leads to a YouTube video that has been set to private.
It has been known since February that FromSoftware would be adding DLC to Dark Souls III. Back then, a Season Pass surfaced, promising two DLC packs for $25. An announcement for the game was scheduled for August 24th.
According to Siliconera, Ashes of Ariandel will add new magic and weapons. Magic spells include a spell that summons hailstorms. The weapons will include a flaming greatsword and a chakram-like weapon of light. In addition, the DLC will include a new PVP arena called “Immortal Compensation.” It is not known if that will be the only area added to the game.
For those Dark Souls III fans who want more from the game, this will be a Godsend. For those who were relieved because they thought they were done with Lothric, I feel for you.
