unto the evil

id Software opened this year’s QuakeCon with a surprise announcement. Unto the Evil, the first DLC for Doom, was announced and released today.

A trailer was released that shows off the additions to the base game. They include three new maps (Cataclysm, Offering, and Ritual); a new weapon (the UAC EMG pistol); a new item (Kinetic Mine); a new demon (the Harvester); and new armor and taunts (such as robotic sets and a golf club-swinging taunt).

Unto the Evil is available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC for $15. It is included as part of the Doom Season Pass. The $40 Season Pass will gives owners access to three DLC packs in total.

Although this DLC has added maps, id Software promises this will not split up the user base. As long as one player has the map, everyone will be able to play in it.
