The PlayStation 4 Slim 500GB console makes its debut tomorrow, but those looking for something a little more special may want to hold out for special bundles. As an example, I present the 1 TB Final Fantasy XV Limited Edition console bundle that GameStop announced for pre-order.
The GameStop-exclusive bundle launches on November 29th, the same day as the game launches. The bundles includes a physical copy of Final Fantasy XV, a VERY welcome departure from most bundles that only come with digital codes for games. The physical copy comes in a nice steelbook case, another nice perk. The bundle also includes a bunch of in-game DLC and a Blu-ray copy of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy.
Of course, the fact that GameStop is offering this exclusive bundle has some goofing them on the inclusion of a physical copy of the game. After all, wouldn’t they want buyers to turn in their used copies later? I think that’s silly…until I think of the possibility I will come across a steelbook copy of Final Fantasy XV on the used rack. Yes, I am that easy.
The PlayStation 4 Slim itself is facing a lot of competition from its slightly older sibling. Listings of refurbished original PS4s appear on the GameStop website for $269.99, undercutting the new PS4 Slim’s $299.99 retail price. For those that want to bicker about the fact that it’s a refurbished PS4, recall that the new Slim offers literally NOTHING new, and actually removes the original console’s Optical out, a feature required by some. eBay has listings posted that offer in-box original PS4s for as little as $259.99 as well, and many outlets offer original PS4s that match the Slim’s $299.99 list price with bundled games.
