Disney and Pixar released The Incredibles back in 2004, and it was indeed incredible. I love the hell out of that movie and have wanted to see a proper sequel for years. Thankfully, Pixar has granted me my desire. The Incredibles 2 is a thing, and a teaser trailer has recently popped up for it.
The trailer is pure fluff. It features Jack-Jack, the cute toddler who showed off dozens of terrifying powers at the end of the first movie. In this teaser, he emerges through some invisible wall or something. He then toddles around, as toddlers are wont to do, giggling to himself as he approaches the Incredibles’ logo. All the while, laser beams are shooting out of his eyes. Upon reaching the logo, his beams split the I in the logo, turning it into the Roman numeral II.
After that, it cuts to Bob Parr, aka Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) holding Jack-Jack as he exclaims that Jack-Jack has powers. Jack-Jack then sneezes, bursts into a quick flame and extinguishes, zaps Bob with electricity, and finally blasts eye lasers into Bob’s hair, leaving a nice ditch in it. One more toddler giggle, and scene.
It’s only 52 seconds long and contains no story elements whatsoever. And I am positively ecstatic that I saw it.
During Disney’s D23 event in July, director Brad Bird confirmed that while the first movie focused on Bob, The Incredibles 2 will center around his wife, Helen, aka Elastigirl (Holly Hunter). Jack-Jack will still be there, as well as Violet (Sarah Vowell) and Dash (Huck Milner). Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) will also appear, which automatically makes the movie 73% more awesome.
Bird mentioned that the Incredibles 2 picks up exactly where the first one left off. There, the family was about to confront the Underminer (John Ratzenberger). There aren’t any more details about the movie and, frankly, I don’t need any. I’m in!
The Incredibles 2 is set to release on June 15, 2018.
