Injustice 2 Announced for 2017

DC fans rejoice! After tweets and leaks teasing the presence of Injustice 2, Warner Bros finally announced the game, arriving to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017.

The game is the sequel to NetherRealm Studios’ Injustice: Gods Among Us, released in 2013. It’s meant to continue the storyline of the original while expanding the roster of superheroes and supervillains. Batman and his crew are looking to restore society while another group strives to restore Superman’s regime. Some playable characters have been teased. Superman, Batman, Supergirl, Aquaman and the Flash appear in the reveal trailer. New villains Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd have also been announced.

According to Ed Boon, creative director at NetherRealm, they have introduced new mechanics with this game. Chief among them is an upgrade system for the characters. As you play, the game rewards you with loot drops that give character-specific gear for your roster. This gear can be used to “build and power up” your characters. You can customize how the characters look, fight, and develop across game modes.

No firm release date has been announced. Hopefully, more information will be forthcoming during E3.
