These are the kinds of things that make me all giddy inside.
Mako Mod, a Spanish group that has made some wicked mods for consoles before, recently showed off their latest creation. And it sings to the retro gamer in me.
This is a fully working NES in a treasure chest that’s made to look like it came straight outta The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. What’s more, the chest once open reveals a shiny gold Triforce. But wait…IT SPINS AND LEVITATES!
The “magic” of levitation is accomplished by “an electromagnetic levitation technology, and a ‘near-field’ wireless transmission of electricity.” The result is a Triforce that acts just like it does in-game. Absolutely awesome!
I would love to have the skills needed to craft one myself. Of course, I have the crafting skills of a cracked CD, so I can only resort to my backup plan: Throwing money at it. And that’s actually possible. This glorious one-off, complete with matching controller, is up for auction right now. Yes, they are in Spain, but international bidders are welcome. If you plan to actually bid on it, I wish you luck!
