Wait…Konami was serious?
Konami has announced Metal Gear Survive, the first game in the Metal Gear universe since Hideo Kojima was unceremoniously shoved out of the picture. According to Konami, the game will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017. They insisted that the Metal Gear series would live on, but…I didn’t believe them!
Konami is describing Metal Gear Survive as a four-player co-op stealth game that “takes a divergent look” at established Metal Gear themes. The stealth elements from the series remains, but it will introduce “a unique co-op setting” that caters to multiplayer gaming.
The game picks up after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and is set in an “alternate timeline caused by unexplained wormholes forming in the sky”.
(I ain’t gonna lie, that was the point where I grabbed the vodka bottle and said, “tell me more, silly Konami people!”)
Here is an official blurb from Konami:
“In a struggle to stay alive on this harsh terrain filled with deadly creatures, soldiers who were previously on Motherbase now must work cooperatively in order to survive.”
If the above text was not surreal enough, Konami released a Gamescom trailer:

This has taken a moment to sink in for me, and I know you will all doubt this as much as I did. But…Metal Gear Survive is a thing, Kojima-san is NOT involved, and Konami seems serious. I’m not sure whether to rage or anticipate!
