After January’s ‘underwhelming’ and – at times – vague presentation, Nintendo Switch followers are picking up the slack for the new home console. They are making mockups of controller colour schemes worthy of store shelf space and players’ cash.
Just highlighting the aesthetic potential is enough to send a shudder down parents’ spines. For veterans, whether it be the (much rumored but as yet unsubstantiated) Smash Bros. port or even GameCube Virtual Console release, to the gloriously retro Donkey and Diddy Kong decor, the Joy Con concepts have already sparked the interest and imagination of many a Switch fan.
Nintendo historically have been a company that appeals to nostalgia as well as collectors, and in recent years hasn’t shied away from peripherals or even creating a scarcity frenzy like the Amiibo craze or the NES Mini. If (or more realistically, when) these do exist, just hope they aren’t limited edition.
