You won’t be able to play the relaunched closed beta for Blizzard’s Overwatch in mid-to-late January anymore, the company has announced over on its official forum. The next private test phase, which is being organised in order to get the multiplayer game ready for its Q2 2016 launch, is now scheduled for mid-February.
The slight delay has to do with a new, yet to be described game mode. From the forum post:
“One of the things we noticed players consistently mentioning was their desire for more game modes in Overwatch, in addition to Point Capture and Payload. Without getting into specifics, we are working on a new game mode”.
Blizzard will of course support this new mode with new maps that take advantage of its feature, but all this means “we need a little more time to get everything just right.”
There’s no exact date for the new beta phase yet. Blizzard is simply aiming at mid-February from here on in. In the meantime, here’s our most recent hands-on preview of the exciting team-based shooter.
