A new Steam free weekend event has begun, offering free access to Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut.
You can now download and play the game as much as you want from now until Sunday, June 12 at 1 PM PT. Provided you have a Steam account, you can grab it here.
If you decide you want to continue playing after the weekend event ends, Steam also has the game on sale. The standard edition is $20 (down from $40), while the digital deluxe edition–which comes with a copy of The Bard’s Tale, three digital novellas, and a digital soundtrack–is $30 (down from $60). With either version, you also get a copy of the original Wasteland and both the Director’s Cut and non-Director’s Cut versions of Wasteland 2.
InXile Entertainment’s RPG is the follow-up to the original Wasteland from 1988, which was a predecessor of sorts to the first Fallout. It was released in 2014 thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, bringing a sequel that fans had waited more than 25 years for. You can GameSpot’s review here.
Steam free weekend events typically feature more than one game, but it appears Wasteland 2 is the lone choice this time around. If you’re interested in something else, there are a number of other games worth a look on sale ahead of the Steam summer sale, including XCOM 2 for $40 and Dirt Rally for $36.
