After weeks of rumors and speculation, Sony has announced that its PlayStation Now subscription service will now be available for Windows. For the first time, PC users will be able to play classics like God of War, Ratchet & Clank, and Uncharted.
Word started to spread when French gaming site Gamekult leaked the move and specified August 23rd as the announcement date. The service will first be available in Europe, with the North American market getting a release soon after.
In addition to the service, Sony is releasing a USB Wireless Adapter that will allow PC users to use the PS4’s DualShock 4 controller. This is the first Sony solution that allows PC gamers to use the DualShock 4 without having to resort to unofficial driver packages.
According to the official announcement, here are the official recommended specs to run PlayStation Now on PC:
- Windows 7 (SP1), 8.1 or 10
- 5 GHz Intel Core i3 or 3.8 GHz AMD A10 or faster
- 300 MB or more HD space; 2 GB or more of RAM
- Sound card; USB port
- Minimum 5Mbps internet connection
PlayStation Now is currently available in the States for $19.99 a month ($44.99 for 3 months). PC compatibility is not available here as of yet. The DualShock 4 USB Wireless Adapter will debut in September for $24.99.
