A media event just concluded at the Game Developers Conference. Sony just released the cost of the device and what included and had a few surprises in store . The headset is set to be released for $399 that $200 cheaper than Oculus and $400 cheaper than HTC VIVE. This put Sony in an advantageous position to dominate The main stream VR market. If Sony can somehow manage to deliver some compelling software it will move units and by far will have the biggest VR install base. In-turn this will give the confidence the developers need to develop games for the system and not be such a huge gamble.
As of today more than 250 developers are working on content for the unit. Sony reasoning for releasing it in the fall is to allow more time for developers to create games so the system has a better launch line-up. there will be over 50 games released between October and the end of the year. There was also mention of a media player supporting Virtual reality content due out around the same time the headset launches. In addition a cinematic mode for all PS4 games and a Netflix viewer will be available and have 3 different zoom modes. The biggest surprise from the event was EA is developing a star wars battlefront virtual reality experience available exclusively for its headset. What do you guys or gals think is this the right price to jump into the virtual reality hype train and pre-order let us know what you think.
