Pokemon GO Masters who were bummed out that they could only nab certain Pokemon by booking a few international flights can rest easy. Interviews of Pokemon GO players by the BBC and Eurogamer seem to confirm that it’s possible to get region-specific Pokemon without having to call a travel agent.
The four exclusive Pokemon – Tauros for North America, Mr. Mime for Europe, Farfetch’d for Asia, and Kangaskhan for Australia – can be obtained by hatching 10km eggs, which are rare themselves.
With the ability to get the four exclusives, there are now 145 registered Pokemon that players can find, still short of the full 151 that were in the original series. Some of the missing Pokemon, like Dittio and the three legendary birds (Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos), do have slots on the game’s Pokedex, but others like Mew and Mewtwo do not. It seems Niantic would have to patch them in.
