A PlayStation 4 Slim has mysteriously appeared in the wild. The PS4 Slim was put up for sale on UK auction site Gumtree and sold. A NeoGAF post has chronicled the auction, showing multiple pictures of the console and its box.
The story begins with a listing for a PS4 Slim on Gumtree. The seller was asking £300 ($391.28 USD) for the console.
Message boards everywhere began to melt down with yells of “FAKE…but I hope it’s real.” Some enterprising people tried to quiz the seller to see if it was legit. The seller, evidently feeling he had to show more proof to avoid scorn, released more pictures of the console.
Finally, one brave soul decided to take a flyer and buy the PS4 Slim. He is @shortmaneighty2, and he is way braver than I. And it seems to be legit!

It’s known that Sony was going to make a slimmer version of the PS4. A reveal for the PS4 Neo was set for September 7th, and it’s likely that this slim model would have been announced on that date as well. Now with the apparent leaking of the console, there is speculation that the announcement of the PS4 Slim would be accompanied by, “and you can get it RIGHT NOW!”
Either way, the pictures are very compelling. In addition to the above tweet, @shortmaneighty2 posts more pictures of the new PS4 with the original console as well as box shots. He is also planning to release more pictures and videos at a future time.
If this does turn out to be legit and not some elaborate scam, this is a major score. I’m sure Sony is very pleased with this news…
