Starting tomorrow, PlayStation 4 owners accepted into Sony’s beta program will be able to try out codename “Shingen”, the PS4 Update 4.00 of its system software.
According to a blog posting by John Koller, Vice-President of PlayStation Brand Marketing, the PS4 update will add quite a few new features.
The biggest change with PS Update 4.00 is folder management. Many PS4 users have wanted more options to organize content. The update will allow users to create folders to both the Library and the content launcher. That will allow users to keep favorite games in one place.
Among the other updates is a change to the UI. Among the adjustments listed are updates to popup notifications, new system backgrounds, and redesigned icons. Also included in the UI changes is a revamped “What’s New” tab. The goal is to have a “more refined and easy to use” UI.
In the Share Menu, the biggest news is an increase in the time limit for Twitter video clips. The update will increase the length of Twitter video clips from 10 seconds to 140 seconds. This will be a blessing for users who share gaming clips via Twitter.
There will be other changes to the Quick Menu, Share Menu, User Profile, and Trophies. More details will be found in John Koller’s blog post.
