Quake Champions Shown Off at QuakeCon

quake champions

When Bethesda kicked off this year’s E3, one of the games they teased was Quake Champions. The game, an arena shooter based on the old franchise, was given only a brief look with no gameplay. Of course, we all knew why: Bethesda wanted to show it off properly during QuakeCon.

Well, QuakeCon is here, and Bethesda has released a new trailer. This trailer shows off the gameplay, which looks to be fully functional. Combat was shown from the first-person perspective, though there were a few floating camera shots. The arenas look to be modern take on Quake III Arena levels, especially the sewer and castle.

This game emphasizes speed; players are zooming around in the trailer. When they’re not running, they’re rocket jumping and launching off jump pads. The verticality of this game is very strong. Bethesda has announced that the game will have 120Hz monitor support for fast twitch gaming, and the game looks like it will keep up just fine.

Have a look at the trailer below to see the game in action. Also…what’s up with that huge eye???
