Rockstar Games released the second trailer for the highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption II. It’s a bit late, but it certainly doesn’t disappoint.
Rockstar briefly talked about the story for the game, saying it’s “the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight, and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive.” If Van der Linde sounds familiar, it’s because its Dutch Van der Linde’s eponymous gang that the original’s protagonist, James Marston, had to hunt down. Dutch himself makes an appearance in the trailer, talking to the upcoming game’s protagonist. So the theories saying Red Dead Redemption II is a prequel are confirmed on that end.
One thing that the trailer conveys about the game is that it is drop-dead gorgeous. The faces of Arthur Morgan and others are very detailed in close-ups. Also, the wilderness is enormous and very detailed as well. Past that, few clues are dropped. The Van der Linde gang is not too nice, and the law is after them. That’s about it.
Another thing the trailer didn’t clear up was the release date for Red Dead Redemption II. Back in May, Rockstar pushed the original Fall 2017 release back to Spring 2018. That vague release window was reiterated here. My hope is that Rockstar releases another trailer before then that shows gameplay. Cinematics are nice, but they’re not what will be played.
Red Dead Redemption II is being developed by Rockstar Studios and be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
