Street Fighter V Will Get Story Mode Later This Month

In late June, Capcom will finally make good on its promise to Street Fighter V players. It will be releasing the Street Fighter V Story expansion, which will add a story campaign to the base game, titles “A Shadow Falls.”

According to Capcom, the single player campaign will take three to four hours to complete. The story will take place between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III (yes, four is before three in Street Fighter history) and depict an epic clash between the World Warriors and Shadoloo.

The story campaign will be playable by all characters, including DLC characters, Ibuki, the third DLC character, will be released along with the story mode update. Capcom promises that Balrog, Urien, and Juri, which have not yet been released, will also be able to play and complete the story mode. Finishing the story campaign will earn players 30,000 Fight Money (FM) and unlock an Extra Mode that ramps up the difficulty. Completing Extra Mode will net the player 50,000 FM.

This update will also change how real-world money will be used to unlock items. Instead of purchasing Zenny to purchase unlocks, players will be able to purchase characters and Battle Costumes with real-world money directly, either through PlayStation Store or Steam. New characters will cost $5.99 each. Players will still be able to unlock the characters in-game using FM. And players who did not pre-order the game will finally be able to purchase the Battle Costumes given to pre-orders, including Hot Ryu.
