Transformers: The Movie, the quality animated film from 1986 not to be confused with anything Michael Bay has stamped his name on, celebrates its 30-year anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the movie is being remastered for release on Blu-ray.
Transformers: The Movie – 30th Anniversary Edition is due out on September 13, Shout Factory announced today. It’s being remastered and transferred to HD from the original 35 mm version, and will include unspecified bonus content, as well as collectible packaging. This will mark the movie’s debut on Blu-ray in the US.
The movie boasts an impressive voice cast, including longtime Optimus Prime voice actor Peter Cullen, Orson Welles (who died prior to its release), Leonard Nimoy, Frank Welker, and Casey Kasem, among others. It was released in 1986, in between the second and third seasons of the original animated series, and introduces a number of new characters (while eliminating some existing ones).
