Last weekend, Titanfall 2 had an open technical test on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We at Digital Crack jumped on and put the game through its paces. The members more familiar with the original mentioned that a lot of things in the game changed for the worse, mainly the amount of time it takes to get a Titan.
Respawn Entertainment, the developers of Titanfall 2, seems to have received that same complaint – along with several others – many times over. The most heard complaint focuses on changes made that changes the game’s pace. Some Digital Crack members made the same point, saying the pilots felt sluggish. They also said that it feels worse in large, open maps like Homestead.
According to a blog post by Respawn, the second technical test this weekend will have some features tweaked. Among them are the following:
- Pilot speed in the air and while wall-running will be faster.
- Pilots will accumulate and retain speed better while wall-running.
- Pilots will passively gain Titan meter.
- Titan survivability has been tweaked, reducing the amount of damage certain weapons do to the mechs.
- Titan dashes will recharge faster.
- The distance at which enemy outlines appear will be reduced.
In addition to the changes, there will be more maps and a new mode added to this weekend’s technical test. Unlike Homestead, which was so flat and open that grappling and wall-running was not very useful, the new maps promise more traditional battlegrounds.
It’s gonna be difficult for Respawn to tweak everything to everyone’s satisfaction in time for this Friday. But you have to recognize their attention to the community. Hopefully, everything is nice and tight when Digital Crack jumps back in.
