For Honor had its closed alpha last month, and Ubisoft has released some infographics that detail a lot of the data collected during the test. The data shown mainly deals with hero preference, mode preference, and kill and death rates.
The first infographic shows that the Orochi was the most picked hero during the closed alpha. The hero was picked by 30% of participating gamers. He was followed by the Warden (22%) and the Raider (16%). The Kensei (13%), the Berserker (10%), and the Conqueror (9%) round out the list. This infographic also notes that Revenge mode, which increases a Hero’s defense and allows more damage per it, was activated over 2 million times.
In Duel mode (1v1), Ubisoft revealed that the Raider had the greatest win rate at 54%. The Orochi and Kensei both had a win rate of 50%, and the Conqueror and Warden had a win rate of 49%. The Berserker brought up the rear with a 45% win rate. This infographic notes that over 5.5 million executions were performed in Duel mode.
The third For Honor infographic, play time, is very informative. Players averaged 4 ½ hours of gameplay during the closed alpha. When counting only players that started playing on day 1 (Sept. 15th), the average play time during the alpha jumps to 6 ¼ hours. The average play time per day breaks down as follows: 1 hour 57 minutes on the 15th, 2 hours 16 minutes on the 16th, 2 hours 32 minutes on the 17th, and 2 hours 26 minutes on the 18th. Curiously, the 18th saw the second highest play time even though the game was not available for the full 24 hours globally.
The fourth infographic details game modes. The preferred game mode during the closed alpha was Dominion (4v4) mode. It was selected 55% of the time. Brawl mode (24%) received 24% of game mode selections. Last was Duel mode at 21%.
During game play, Ubisoft reports that there was a near 50/50 split between matched versus AI and matches versus players. Matches versus players narrowly won 51%-49%. Finally, the average match duration was reported per mode. Dominion matches lasted an average of 8:03 minutes. Brawl matches lasted an average of 3:21 minutes, and Duel matches lasted an average of 2:56 minutes.
The final infographic is pretty astounding. Ubisoft tracked the progression of all players during the alpha. It noted that 5% of the world’s players reached level 21 (Reputation 1) or above with one Hero during the alpha. One player, ReReminiscence, managed to eclipse all by reaching level 121 (Reputation 6) with an Orochi. Ubisoft notes that this player rack up about 53 hours of gameplay with is hero. THAT is a level of dedication a grizzled game such a I recognize as hardcore.
The closed alpha was focused on multiplayer. The game will also have a single-player campaign mode, something that will most likely not be seen until its release. There are also more heroes that have not been seen yet.
For Honor will release on February 14th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
