This entry is not technically worthy of being here. I did play the Doom multiplayer beta back in April, an experience I was not too fond of. Although I have heard many positive things about the campaign, I had mostly avoided the game. The reason why is as silly as it is real: I don’t enjoy first-person shooters like I used to. I was a huge fan of the FPS back during the original Doom on PC. In the...[Read More]
Ever since its release, Doom has been treating players to all the face-shooting, neck-breaking gore they can handle. Bethesda has also been showing love post-launch, with two free updates to the game. For Update #3, Doom plans to add Deathmatch and Private Matches for free as well. Deathmatch is a return to the fragfests of old. It’s everyone for his or her self; no cooperation or teamwork here. P...[Read More]
Back on May 31st of this year, Bethesda delivered mods for Fallout 4 on the Xbox One. The goal was to offer mods for it and, afterward, the upcoming The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim remaster on both Xbox One and PS4. This was a move that console gamers very happy. However, it now seems PS4 owners will be left in the lurch. Bethesda posted an update on their website today that says Sony won’t allow them...[Read More]
Bethesda Softworks is not known for its work on Nintendo consoles. In the States, the last Bethesda game to grace a Nintendo system was 2008’s Ducati Moto for the Nintendo DS. Our European brethren managed to try out Wheelspin for the Wii. We’ll just go ahead and say that the pickings have been slim. For the most part, the House of The Elder Scrolls has stuck to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Does tha...[Read More]
When Bethesda kicked off this year’s E3, one of the games they teased was Quake Champions. The game, an arena shooter based on the old franchise, was given only a brief look with no gameplay. Of course, we all knew why: Bethesda wanted to show it off properly during QuakeCon. Well, QuakeCon is here, and Bethesda has released a new trailer. This trailer shows off the gameplay, which looks to be ful...[Read More]
Prey was announced by Bethesda during the last E3. At the time, many wondered if it would be a successor to the 2006 title or a reboot. The trailer shown then didn’t really answer anything. During QuakeCon, Bethesda showed off a second trailer of the game, and we seem no closer to an answer. This trailer seems to be more exposition, but there is a bit of gameplay. We get a good look at some of the...[Read More]
Bethesda has experienced trouble with enabling mods on the PlayStation 4 version of Fallout 4, and it seems Sony is the one to blame. Sony is limiting the mods to 900MB of space. This is in contrast to Microsoft, which allows 2GB of space for mods. In addition, the PS4 edition of Fallout 4 seems to suffer from poor optimization, which makes the issue worse. Bethesda was ready to roll out a beta of...[Read More]

Of all the games Bethesda was rumored to be showing at E3 this year, Dishonored 2 was the one I was most excited about. The sequel to 2012’s stealth action adventure game was high on everyone’s wish list, including mine. Well, Bethesda seems to have knocked this one out of the park. The game takes place 15 years after the original game. The player can play as either Corvo Attano, the hero of the l...[Read More]
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Special Edition has me at odds with myself. As an old-school gamer and collector, I was initially averse to remasters of older titles. My thinking was, I admit, pretty narrow-focused: “Why should I buy the remaster? I have the original game right here!” I have since learned to embrace remasters of classic titles like Resident Evil 4 and Full Throttle, as they offer gamers...[Read More]
The classic FPS renaissance is in full swing, and Quake: Champions is the next title in line. After the runaway success of last year’s Doom and 2014’s Wolfenstein: The New Order, you just knew it was only a matter of time before Bethesda dipped back to the nostalgia well for this classic. Behold Quake Champions, an arena-based twitch FPS that harkens back to the days of Quake 4 Arena and Unreal To...[Read More]
After having an external developer work on Doom's multiplayer prior to launch, id Software is now taking the reins on that side of the project, with plans to introduce a number of absent features."We worked with Certain Affinity through the launch of the game and really appreciate their contributions and effort on the game," director Marty Stratton told Eurogamer. With the game now out, the team a...[Read More]
