I have mentioned AM2R, a fan-made reboot of Metroid II: Return of Samus, a couple of times in this space. The game, after six years of development, was released earlier this month and was soon taken down by Nintendo. Well, it turns out that AM2R was not the only game in Nintendo’s cross-hairs. DoctorM64, the creator of AM2R, wrote on his blog today addressing a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DM...[Read More]

SNES Turns 25 Years Old Today

On August 23, 1991, the Super Nintendo (SNES) changed video gaming for me significantly. Prior to that date, video games were a rediscovered love. My teenage years were spent away from gaming, preferring chasing girls to saving princesses. I snapped out of it long enough to catch the tail end of the NES’s North American lifespan. That 8-bit wonder was a marvel. The 16-bit SNES was a revelation. In...[Read More]

Well, it’s still around, and even got a 1.1 update recently. The patch fixes a few bugs like the gravity suit not being rendered. It also handles a few translation issues. A transportation pipe to the ...[Read More]

Mega Man 9 and 10 May See Re-Releases

Longtime Mega Man fans haven’t had a new game of substance in a while. While Capcom seems to be in no hurry to resurrect him for new games, Inti Creates is itching to bring back the last two games in the mainline series. Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 are notable for being the only mainline games to not have a physical release. They were released via WiiWare, PlayStation Network (PSN), and Xbox Live A...[Read More]
